MILFORD HAVEN MAN AVOIDS JAIL AFTER BREACHING SUSPENDED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SENTENCE
A domestic abuser identified as Zachariah Roberts-Thomas, aged 23, from Marble Hall Road in Milford Haven, previously received a 12-week suspended sentence for attacking his girlfriend in late December. He was ordered to complete the Building Better Relationships programme, 150 hours of unpaid work, and 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days. However, he later came before Swansea Crown Court accused of breaching his suspended sentence by failing to attend court appointments on May 19 and July 7, which he admitted. The court was informed that Roberts-Thomas was still awaiting placement on the relationship programme. Judge Huw Rees warned him that he could face prison if he failed to comply. The case was adjourned to September 20, with added requirements for Roberts-Thomas to complete 30 hours of unpaid work and 4 rehab days before then, with the judge stating he would not be imprisoned if he fulfilled these conditions. The original incident involved Roberts-Thomas attacking his partner of several years on December 29, during which the victim called her sister crying while on a video call. The defendant was heard screaming in the background and had punched her in the ribs, calling her offensive names before police arrived. When police returned, Roberts-Thomas was found outside heavily intoxicated, shouting that he wanted his partner back. The court's comments and sentencing highlighted the need for the defendant to receive assistance to address his behavior.
