WOMAN STABBED PARTNER IN HAVERFORDWEST THEN WENT TO POLICE

Amy Woolston attended Haverfordwest Police Station at around 8pm on June 13, prosecutor Tom Scapens told Swansea Crown Court.

Woolston told the officers ‘I stabbed my ex-partner earlier’, before adding ‘He’s alright and he let me walk off’.

The defendant said she stabbed him after they had both taken acid together and she felt stab marks in her back.

Officers attended the victim’s home to check on him.

He wasn’t there, but soon returned home.

They noted he was not under the influence of anything.

When asked if anything had happened, he replied: ‘Just a couple of things’, before gesturing to his back.

He had sustained three stab or puncture marks to his back and one to his bicep.

The victim told the police that when he got home from the shop, Woolston was “being a bit shifty”.

He said he asked if she was alright, and she grabbed something from the window sill – either a knife or a shard of glass – and stabbed him.

He added he’d “had worse from her before”, and said he didn’t support any prosecution.

He also refused to attend hospital.

Woolston, 22, of Dartmouth Street in Milford Haven, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding.

The court heard the defendant now had 20 previous convictions from 10 court appearances, including several for battery and assaulting emergency workers.

“She’s had a long-standing problem with her mental health,” Dyfed Thomas said, in mitigation.

“She was off her medication she was taking for her paranoid schizophrenia.

“She had a difficult upbringing.” Mr Thomas said the defendant was remorseful and was now taking her medication again.

“She’s still a young woman,” he added.

Sentencing Woolston, Judge Geraint Walters said: “Whilst having an episode, no doubt, you stabbed your partner.

Something he opted a rather blasé approach to.

We need to sort out your problems.

You taking a knife to somebody – you or somebody else – nobody knows what the outcome will be.” Judge Walters sentenced Woolston to 12 months imprisonment.

The court heard that the defendant had already served the equivalent of a 12-month sentence, so she will be released imminently.

“A licence condition for 12 months is going to be more helpful for you,” Judge Walters said.
