Yusuf Sacha, a 69-year-old man from Batley, has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences involving children.
The case was heard at Leeds Crown Court on February 28, where Sacha was convicted of 12 charges, including rape, indecent assault, and acts of indecency with a minor.
The offences implicated three young children at the time, with allegations spanning sexual assault and indecency.
These crimes occurred between 1979 and 1985, and police began their investigation in 2019 following a report from an adult victim.
Sacha was detained in February 2021 and charged later that year in October.
Kirklees Police’s Detective Chief Inspector Ian Thornes stated, “The sentencing marks a significant step in delivering justice for vulnerable child victims whom Sacha targeted.
He abused his standing in the community and the trust it conferred to commit these terrible acts.
It seems he thought his victims would remain silent due to fear or shame, but their courage in speaking out has uncovered his series of offences and secured justice for those affected.”
