BATLEY MAN ACCUSED OF HEADBUTTING AND PUNCHING PARTNER
A man has appeared in court accused of a serious assault on his partner. The victim sustained cuts to her head after being punched and headbutted during the alleged incident on October 22.
Her partner, Michael Roche, denied the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Prosecutor Shamalia Qureshi stated that the attack occurred at the victim's residence in The Avenue, Batley.
She described that Roche pushed the victim onto the bed, punched her twice on the forehead, and headbutted her.
The victim was treated at the hospital for cuts that required closure using Steri-strips.
The District Judge Michael Fanning informed Roche, of Foxglove Road in Birstall, that his trial would be held at Huddersfield court on February 20.
A witness summons was issued for the complainant to attend and give evidence, with the option to do so from behind a screen.
Roche, aged 45, is currently under bail conditions that prohibit him from contacting his partner or going within 100 meters of her address.
