COURT HEARS ABOUT REPEATED RESTRAINING ORDER BREACHES BY STOCKTON MAN
An individual named William Slater, aged 64, has been repeatedly breaching a restraining order originally imposed in 2014.He was bombarding his former partner with unwanted phone calls, including three calls from his number while police were present at the victim's home.
When police answered the calls, Slater claimed he was asking about her health after learning she was unwell, which the officer told him was not an acceptable reason.
Despite being told he should not contact her, Slater admitted to calling the victim again after visiting Stockton Police Station.
This incident marked the 13th breach of the restraining order against the same woman, who wished for the order to remain in effect.
Slater's actions led to his court appearance via a video link from Durham Prison.
The prosecutor highlighted the seriousness of the case, particularly because the victim is considered a high-risk individual.
The court postponed sentencing until June 11 to allow a statement from the victim to be submitted.
Judge Howard Crowson expressed skepticism about Slater's belief that the woman wanted him in her life, stating, "You may believe this woman wants you in her life, I think that is unlikely." The case was covered by the Evening Gazette and is associated with topics such as domestic violence and police interactions.
Slater's address is listed as Woodland Street, Stockton.
