MAN TOOK GIRL TO STOCKTON FLAT WHERE HE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED HER
A man who told a 15-year-old girl that he wanted to take her on dates, that she was ‘wife’ material, and that he ‘loved’ her before sexually assaulting her has been jailed.Faisul Baruud, 31, who was known locally as Jamal, targeted the teenager through grooming and exploitation and supplied her with alcohol and drugs.
He then sexually assaulted the child while she was intoxicated.
On Friday (March 20), Baruud appeared at Teesside Crown Court, where he was sentenced to three years and three months after pleading guilty to sexual assault at an earlier hearing.
He will also be on the sex offenders' register for 10 years, and he is now subject to a five-year restraining order.
During the sentencing, the court heard how Baruud was stopped by police officers as he travelled with the child through Stockton town centre at 1.45am on Wednesday, January 15 last year.
After seeing that the child in the car was extremely intoxicated and unable to say where she was or who she was with, officers knew something was wrong.
They safeguarded her, and she was taken to hospital where it was confirmed she had drugs, including cocaine and temazepam, and alcohol in her system.
Baruud was arrested and taken to police custody for questioning.
He was then charged with sexual assault of a child and remanded in custody.
Following the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Peter Howes said: “Baruud deliberately targeted a young and vulnerable girl with the sole purpose of sexually assaulting her within days of meeting her.
He did this through grooming and exploitation.
This involved flattering her into believing he was romantically interested, then spending money on her, which included buying her alcohol and takeaway food, before isolating her from her friends by taking her away in his car.
