WILLIAM RUSHBROOK FROM KILBIRNIE AND SALTCOATS SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN GLASGOW

Rushbrook, who was residing in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire at the time of his sentencing, faced charges that included the attempted rape and rape of two innocent schoolgirls.

The court heard that in June 2007, Rushbrook attempted to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl while she was sleeping at a property in Dalry.
According to the testimony, the girl awoke to find Rushbrook removing her trousers and underwear.
Despite her efforts to resist, she managed to struggle free, causing him to cease his attack.
This attempted assault was a clear indication of his predatory intent.
On a different occasion in the same year and location, Rushbrook again targeted a sleeping girl.
This time, he removed her underwear and forcibly penetrated her with his fingers, further demonstrating his pattern of abuse and disregard for the victims' safety.
The most severe charge related to an incident in December 2009, also in Dalry.
During this attack, Rushbrook forcibly pinned a 13-year-old girl against a wall.
He then removed her trousers and underwear and, despite her cries for help, proceeded to violently rape her.
The court was told that this act was particularly heinous, reflecting the brutality of his crimes.
Following a thorough investigation and trial, William Rushbrook was sentenced to a total of ten years in prison.
The court determined that he must serve six years behind bars, with the remaining four years on licence, meaning he will be under supervision after his release.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure intended to protect the community from any future harm.
Rushbrook’s case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the judicial system to address and penalize sexual offences, especially those involving vulnerable minors.
