WOMAN ADDED TO SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER FOR RECORDING 'SEXUAL ACT' IN BEER GARDEN
A YOUNG woman who recorded a pair engaging in a sexual act in a North Ayrshire beer garden before sharing the footage on Snapchat has been added to the sex offenders register.Charli Hillman, 23, pleaded guilty to committing an offence of voyeurism on March 23 last year at The Four Seasons on Green Street in Saltcoats.
Hillman, of Rosemount in Kilwinning, admitted observing and recording a woman doing a private act with the intention of enabling herself or another to look at the image and posting the recording on social media without their consent.
She appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court for sentencing on Monday, March 2 in front of Sheriff Lorna Anderson.
The court heard how the complainer had been in the pub at around 8pm with friends, when she met up with her ex-partner and went into the beer garden to engage in a sexual act.
She returned home but the following evening found out that a video was circulating online showing the incident in the beer garden.
The Snapchat video was captioned "Feel like s***t, just want f******d in Seasons", and had been uploaded to Hillman's private story on the social media app.
The complainer messaged Hillman and she took it down, but the woman contacted police.
Hillman admitted to posting videos whilst intoxicated, and was cautioned and charged.
Her solicitor, Simon Brown, argued against Hillman being subject to the requirements of the sex offenders register.
He said: "If it's not done for gratification or humiliation, it requires to have a significant sexual element." Sheriff Lorna Anderson told Hillman that it was a "monumentally stupid thing to do", but added her to the sex offenders register for the next six months.
She was also ordered to complete six months of supervision by the local authority.
