THUG SWERVED CAR TO 'BACK UP' THREATS TO KILL FORMER PARTNER
A violent individual who threatened to kill his former partner deliberately swerved his vehicle with her inside to torment her.The court was told that Hussein Alshrayteh later claimed to the woman that he loved her, that she was his wife, and that "no other man would have her," despite having assaulted her just moments earlier.
The 25-year-old, from Scott Road, pleaded guilty to assault and threatening behavior during his court appearance.
The incident involved his ex-partner, with whom he had been involved romantically for approximately three years.
Prosecutor Fraser Alexander explained that he received a phone call from Alshrayteh on April 20, during which he repeatedly asked her if she was seeing someone else.
She ended the call, but he called again five minutes later, making threats to kill her and demanding her phone and its passcode.
He then went to her mother’s house in Saltcoats, where she was outside, got into his car, and drove off while insulting her, issuing threats, and swerving his vehicle to intimidate her.
He left the scene only after grabbing her arm, trying to lift her into the car, biting her when she attempted to walk away, and professing his love for her.
Neighbors witnessed the confrontation, and police found her distressed and with injuries, including a bite mark and bruising.
Alshrayteh was subsequently apprehended, cautioned, and charged.
He had previously been released on bail for making abusive phone calls to her and had been sentenced for that offense.
The court ordered background checks before determining his sentence.
Alshrayteh was granted bail under certain conditions and is scheduled to appear in court again later this year.
