WILLIAM JORDAN'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN OXFORD: PAEDOPHILE AND BIGAMIST CAUGHT IN BRITAIN

William Jordan, a man with a troubling criminal history, was released from custody on May 2, 2009, after serving time for a series of serious offenses. Following his release, he was deported from the United Kingdom, marking the end of a lengthy and disturbing chapter of his life. His criminal activities, which spanned several years, included deception, bigamy, and sexual offenses, all of which came to light through a series of investigations and court proceedings.

Jordan, originally from the United States, had established a complex web of lies and manipulations that affected multiple women and children. His criminal record revealed that he married his first wife, Julie Cunningham, in 1992, with whom he fathered five children. A decade later, in 2002, he entered into a second marriage with Miss Turner Thomson, the mother of two more of his children, who resided in Edinburgh. Unbeknownst to her, Jordan’s first wife was still alive and living nearby in Gullane, although she later moved to Lancashire. This deception was part of his broader pattern of dishonesty and exploitation.

Jordan’s criminal conduct extended beyond deception and bigamy. In 1997, he was convicted of three counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 13, a conviction that underscored his history as a convicted paedophile. In May 2005, Denise King, a woman based in Blackpool, reported unauthorized transactions on her credit card totaling £1,000 and £500, which had been used at a Mercedes Benz dealership in Kidlington, Oxfordshire.

Authorities responded swiftly, setting up surveillance at the dealership. On November 11 of the previous year, police officers arrested Jordan at the scene. During subsequent investigations, Jordan admitted to fraud related to the misuse of Miss King’s credit card. He also pleaded guilty to failing to register his address as legally required by law, a stipulation for sex offenders, and to additional charges of bigamy and illegal possession of a stun gun. His arrest and subsequent conviction highlighted the extent of his criminal behavior, which included not only financial deception but also violations of sex offender registration laws and possession of prohibited weapons.

At Oxford Crown Court, Judge Thomas Corrie sentenced Jordan to five years in prison. The judge’s remarks reflected the gravity of his offenses, describing him as “a con man, a convicted paedophile and a bigamist.” He emphasized that Jordan was an “inveterate exploiter of vulnerable women,” causing harm both financially and emotionally. Following his incarceration, Jordan was eventually released and deported from the UK, ending his tumultuous and criminally charged presence in Britain.
