A man has been formally charged with multiple offences after an alleged sexual assault in a park in Stockport.
Police responded to reports of the incident at Heaton Mersey Park around 9:30 pm on Tuesday, September 9.
Following investigations, a 28-year-old man was detained by law enforcement.
In a statement issued on Thursday morning, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that he has been charged with multiple crimes, including rape, sexual assault, and kidnapping with intent to commit a sexual offence.
Additionally, he faces charges of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to threaten violence, making threats to kill, theft, and drug possession of cannabis.
Greater Manchester Police identified the suspect as Usama Al-Sari, a British citizen of mixed white and Asian ethnicity, a detail released in line with recent police transparency guidelines.
He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court later today.
Support is being provided to the complainant by specialist officers.
