MAN WHO EXPLOITED VULNERABLE TEENAGE GIRL JAILED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
A man has received a nine-and-a-half-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping a vulnerable teenage girl in Stockport.Mohsen Farjam (born 02/05/1982), whose address was listed as no fixed abode, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on 5 March to five counts related to sexual offenses, including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one charge of sexual assault by penetration.
The case, which took place in July 2018, involved significant efforts by police and investigators.
Extensive investigative work was carried out, including ongoing support and engagement with the victim.
The process involved thorough reviews and close cooperation with relevant partners to ensure a just outcome.
The victim, who has a neurodevelopmental condition and was only 15 years old at the time, was alone in Stockport when Farjam approached her.
Recognizing her distress, he offered her help and persuaded her to go for food and charge her devices, claiming he was homeless and expressing sympathy.
In reality, he was grooming her for exploitation.
Following their departure, Farjam supplied the girl with vodka at his tent on the outskirts of the town, where he then inappropriately touched her and commented on her nervousness.
He proceeded to sexually assault and rape her.
The girl managed to leave the tent after the assault and bravely told a family member, who subsequently contacted the police.
Farjam was arrested within hours.
Throughout the proceedings, Farjam maintained his innocence, denying all allegations and showing no remorse.
He told authorities that he had only taken the girl to his tent for a massage because he saw her vulnerability, also claiming he was seeking assistance for the homeless community.
Investigators examined tens of thousands of pages of evidence.
Ultimately, Farjam was sentenced on 5 March, and as part of his punishment, he was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
