TYRONE DAVIES OF BANGOR CRUELTY TO DOG STITCH IN SHOCKING CASE

Tyrone Davies, a resident of Cysgod Y Mynydd on High Street in Bangor, was found guilty in 2016 of inflicting severe physical harm on a young dog named Stitch. The incident drew significant attention after a passer-by witnessed Davies engaging in a disturbing act of animal cruelty. According to reports, Davies was seen lifting his dog by her collar and then forcefully throwing her onto the ground, causing the dog to yelp in pain and distress.

Fortunately, despite the brutal nature of the attack, Stitch, a brindle Staffordshire Bull Terrier, managed to escape serious injury. The incident was reported to authorities, leading to Davies’s prosecution for animal cruelty. His history as a persistent violent offender added to the concern surrounding the case. Despite the evidence of his cruelty, the court decided not to impose a ban on Davies from owning animals, and Stitch was returned to his care.

Mike Pugh, an inspector from the RSPCA, expressed his views on the case, stating, “Clearly, this dog was badly mishandled, and this man has faced the consequences for his actions. It’s a clear warning as to what can happen when pets are mistreated in this way.” He emphasized the importance of responsible pet ownership, remarking, “Owning a dog is a big, and very fortunate, responsibility.”

Pugh further highlighted the legal framework designed to protect animals, saying, “There are clear and important laws which must be followed to ensure the welfare of animals, and the RSPCA stands ready to enforce those laws to protect dogs like Stitch.” Despite the court’s decision to allow Davies to keep his dog, Pugh expressed hope that his guilty plea would serve as a lesson, encouraging him to treat his pet with the respect and care it deserves, within the bounds of the law.

The court sentenced Davies to a fine of £150, along with a £30 victim surcharge and £650 in costs. However, no ban or deprivation order was issued, allowing him to retain ownership of Stitch. This case has sparked ongoing discussions about animal welfare and the responsibilities of pet owners in Bangor and beyond.
