BANGOR MAN, 30, LEFT FORMER PARTNER ‘PARALYSED WITH FEAR

A man from Bangor caused fear and distress when he appeared in his ex-partner’s garden shortly after being released from prison, frightening her to the point of paralysis.

Lloyd Lloyd, who had a lengthy relationship with Nicole Kelly spanning 11 years, also damaged a police vehicle following his arrest.

The 30-year-old resident of Heol Dewi was sentenced to one year in prison at Caernarfon Crown Court on Friday, March 28, after admitting to breaching a restraining order and causing criminal damage.

Prosecutor Frances Wilmott explained that a three-year restraining order was issued in July 2023, forbidding Lloyd from approaching or contacting Ms Kelly.

Just two days after his release from incarceration, on March 1, he sent her messages about their three children, which she chose to ignore.

However, later that week, while she was at home with their children, she saw Lloyd in her backyard attempting to open her back door.

Police were called to the scene, where the children, described as distressed, had to be looked after by Ms Kelly’s mother.

At the time, one of the children had missed calls from Lloyd.

Police found Lloyd the following morning in an unsteady, slurring state, with a hand injury.

During his arrest, he damaged a police car window with a kick, resulting in £120 worth of damage.

Ms Kelly stated she believes Lloyd refuses to accept that they are separated and shows no respect for her.

She recounted feeling "paralysed with fear" and "petrified" upon seeing him outside her home, describing him as "dangerous" and "unpredictable." Lloyd has a record of 24 previous convictions for 50 offences.

During the proceedings, he twice walked out of his sentencing hearing, which was conducted via video link from custody.

Lloyd’s lawyer, Richard Edwards, attributed his client’s behaviour to alcohol abuse, describing it as the “root of his offending.” He emphasized that Lloyd’s desire to see his children was a factor in his actions, despite the existing restraining order.

Mr Edwards explained that Lloyd believed his daughter called him before a school trip, making it difficult for him to refuse contact.

Additionally, Lloyd suffered a serious brain injury in 2019 following a motorbike accident.

Judge Nicola Jones sentenced Lloyd, highlighting the serious distress caused by his actions, and advised him to seek treatment for his brain injury upon release, as it appears to be contributing to his breaches of the restraining order and criminal behaviour.
