MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF UNDERAGE GIRLS WHILE ON BAIL
Cian Williams received a nine-year prison sentence after he was convicted of targeting two underage girls in 2024, one aged 13 and the other 14, who are protected by legal restrictions from being identified.Williams, then 20 years old and residing in Rhosfryn, Penrhosgarnedd, Bangor, was 18 at the time of the offences.
He pleaded guilty to several charges, including engaging in sexual activity with a minor, inciting a minor to participate in sexual acts, and grooming.
A related charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice was left on file and not pursued.
Williams initially contacted the first girl via Snapchat, where he exchanged sexual messages, offered her cannabis in exchange for sex—which did not occur—and sent her a sexual explicit image of himself.
Subsequently, he approached a second girl, inviting her to his residence and engaging in sexual activity after establishing online contact.
Throughout these encounters, Williams sent explicit photos and encouraged the girls to send him sexual images of themselves.
The victims experienced significant emotional distress: one felt betrayed and developed trust issues, while the other reported feelings of anger, loneliness, panic attacks, and nightmares.
The court sentenced Williams, who had no prior criminal record, to nine years in custody, with a minimum of two-thirds to be served in a young offenders' institution and the remainder on license.
Additionally, he received an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), was prohibited from entering school grounds, and was subject to a 15-year restraining order to prevent contact with the victims.
