MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AND ASSAULT
A 39-year-old man from Gwynedd has received a custodial sentence following multiple offences committed against a female victim.Jamie Andrew Cowell, who resides on High Street in Bangor, appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court on Friday, 5 December, for sentencing.
The defendant had previously pleaded guilty to charges including assault, criminal damage, and violating a restraining order.
The crimes took place at a residence in Anglesey during the early hours of 8 November, 2025.
Police responded to reports of a disturbance at the property and discovered the female victim inside, suffering from facial injuries and heavy bleeding.
She also expressed to officers her fears for her life due to Cowell’s violent assault and the threats he had made towards her.
Cowell was taken into custody and later charged with assault, during which he also caused damage to a television, furniture, and a mirror.
He was ultimately sentenced to 16 months of imprisonment and was subject to a 20-year Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO).
The order strictly prohibits Cowell from making contact with the victim by any means during its enforcement.
Detective Inspector Trystan Davies commented on the case, commending the victim and describing the incident as “was a shocking and distressing incident”.
He added: “This was a shocking and distressing incident in which a woman was violently assaulted inside her own home.
“No one should ever feel unsafe in their home, especially at the hands of someone who chooses to use violence and fear.
“We commend the victim for her courage in coming forward and working with investigating officers.
“We remain fully committed to protecting victims of domestic abuse and bringing perpetrators to justice.
“Anyone experiencing abuse, or concerned for the welfare of someone else, is urged to contact us we will listen, we will support you and we will act.”
