“THE SYSTEM FAILED ME” – SCOTTISH MUM SAYS SHE’S STILL LIVING IN FEAR AFTER 18 YEARS OF HORROR A Scottish mum says she and her young son are living a “never-ending nightmare” after the man who mentally, physically and sexually tormented her for nearly two decades walked free — with what she calls a slap on the wrist.

“Claire,” not her real name, says the abuse began when she was a teenager.

What followed was 18 years of forced sex, coercive control, threats and humiliation — all behind closed doors.

She finally found the courage to go to police.

She thought justice would save her and her son.

Instead, she watched in disbelief as the courts handed down a community sentence, unpaid work, and a temporary order telling him to stay away.

> “I gave them every piece of my soul, every detail of what he did,” Claire said.

“And this is the outcome?

Where is the justice for me — for my child?” Claire says the nightmare hasn’t ended.

Despite the restrictions placed on him, she claims she is still being targeted — this time by his associates.

> “I’m still getting abuse, still getting attacked verbally online and in the street,” she told us.

“I thought leaving him would make things better.

But it’s like I’m still trapped in his world.” Claire says she was told she could take the case to the High Court — but she is emotionally destroyed.

> “I have no fight left.

The trauma haunts me and my son every day.

I survived him… but I don’t know if I can survive the system.” She wants change — not just for her, but for every victim who feels let down by the very system that promises protection.
