DANGEROUS FIFE WOMAN KERRY WARD REPEATEDLY STABBED PARTNER DURING TERRIFYING CAMPAIGN OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE JAILED
A woman assaulted her partner using two knives at his residence in Fife because he decided to go to bed, a court was told.Kerry Ward, aged 48, inflicted multiple stab wounds to the man’s arms, face, and leg during the attack in Glenrothes on August 22 this year, in an unprovoked assault.
Medical professionals indicated that the injuries could have been fatal if they had not been treated promptly.
Ward appeared remotely via videolink at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court to admit guilt to charges of a life-threatening assault causing severe injury, permanent disability, and disfigurement.
She also pleaded guilty to twice assaulting a female police officer and twice breaching bail conditions on the same night.
Prosecutor Stewart Duncan stated that Ward was in an “on-off relationship” with her victim, described as a vulnerable man with health problems, for approximately 15 years.
On the afternoon of August 22, the victim’s 77-year-old mother went to check on him at his home, where she encountered Ward and asked her to leave due to concerns over her son’s safety stemming from previous incidents.
Ward responded with shouting and swearing—telling the woman, “I pray every day you get cancer” and “I’ll kick you up and down the street”—and the woman subsequently reported these events.
Police later found Ward near an Asda supermarket in Kirkcaldy, visibly intoxicated, and her partner agreed to her being left under his supervision.
At about 8:30 pm, Ward attacked her partner with a knife after he refused her demand to stay with her and instead went to bed, the fiscal explained.
The assault appeared to be without direct provocation and was triggered by Ward’s displeasure that her partner chose to go to sleep rather than stay with her in the living room.
During the attack, she stabbed him in the right arm as he tried to defend himself, resulting in both entry and exit wounds.
She then attacked him a second time with another knife as he attempted to call the police, causing injuries to his left forearm, face, and right thigh.
The man sustained a stab wound approximately 20-25cm long to his left forearm, which exposed muscle tissue.
According to medical reports, there is a risk of long-term complications such as impaired hand function and sensation due to this injury.
During the incident, the victim managed to lock himself in the bathroom while Ward tried to break down the door before fleeing the scene.
Authorities tracked her down outside the property, where she was aggressive—banging on windows and covered in blood.
She resisted arrest and physically assaulted a female officer by kicking her in the chest.
While at Dunfermline police station, Ward also punched the same officer in the mouth.
She violated bail conditions that had been imposed after the initial assault.
On September 4, she was found at Victoria Hospital with the same man by an off-duty police officer, and on September 27, officers found her asleep in his bed after the man told his mother she was at his home.
The fiscal representative highlighted that Ward has a lengthy criminal record, including numerous charges for breach of the peace, assault, police assault, and domestic-related offenses.
Sheriff Steven Borthwick indicated that Ward’s most probable sentence would be a custodial term, potentially involving an extended sentence with enhanced supervision following release.
Sentencing was postponed until January 22 to allow for background reports before deciding on an extended detention period.

Medical staff later confirmed that the wounds had the potential to be fatal if they had not been treated promptly.
The court heard that Ward’s offending was linked to long-standing alcohol misuse.
Her solicitor said that when sober she was regarded as thoughtful, intelligent, and generally pleasant.
Ward previously pled guilty to a charge of assault to severe injury, permanent impairment and permanent disfigurement.
She also admitted assaulting a female police officer on two occasions that same evening, as well as breaching bail twice.
In addition to a 32-month custodial sentence, Ward will be subject to a further year of supervision on release and has been banned from contacting her victim for a period of 10 years.
