BUS DRIVER JAILED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AFTER BRUTAL ATTACKS ON WIFE
A man named Todor Fidanski, who was a bus driver, has been found guilty of repeatedly attacking his wife. The assault included pulling her by the hair, kicking and stamping on her, and grabbing her by the throat.
Despite these violent acts, Fidanski claimed during the trial that he did not believe he had been violent and thought his actions were justified, even stating to the police, 'It was the right thing to do.' The court was told that the victim, who is from Guinea and met Fidanski in Gambia, married him in January and they lived in Huddersfield.
Their two-year-old son remained with the victim's mother in Gambia.
The assaults occurred at their home, with a particularly severe incident on March 7, where Fidanski pulled the victim by the jacket, threw her to the ground, kicked her in the stomach and back, punched her, and threw her belongings outside.
Another attack on May 4 involved pushing her onto the bed, punching her several times, and choking her, even while she was pregnant.
During police interviews, Fidanski admitted to assaulting his wife and claimed he did it because he was worried about his debts, his child in Africa, and ongoing stress.
Despite his protests of innocence and assertions that his actions were not extreme, Fidanski was sentenced to 26 weeks in custody and received a court order banning him from contacting his wife for two years.
The court highlighted the violence and aggressive behavior, describing the incidents as frenzied and stating that only an immediate prison sentence was justified.
