A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after admitting to assaulting his former partner.
On March 17, 2024, Bradley Stuart Marshall carried out a brutal assault inside a property on Adnitt Road in Northampton, after accusing the woman of seeing another man.
During the attack, Marshall repeatedly punched her, pulled her off the sofa and onto the floor, and attempted to strike her head against a step.
The assault lasted nearly 45 minutes, during which Marshall also damaged the victim’s mobile phone, preventing her from calling for help.
Eventually, she managed to flee and ran to a nearby main road, where a member of the public allowed her to use their phone to call emergency services at 999.
Marshall was arrested at the scene and charged with assault and criminal damage.
He pleaded guilty to the charges at Northampton Crown Court in September.
On October 21, he appeared again before the court and was sentenced to two years and three months in prison.
PC Sam Whitaker from the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team, who led the investigation, stated: “I am really pleased to see Marshall sent to prison for this awful attack and although no sentence can erase the distress this woman felt during the assault, I hope she can take some comfort in this conviction and deliverance of justice.
“Tackling violence against women and girls remains a priority for Northamptonshire Police and we will continue working hard - across every team and department - to put more people like Bradley Marshall behind bars.”
