TIMOTHY WALTON FROM NUNEATON SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR CHILD RAPE CASE IN WARWICK CROWN COURT
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Nuneaton, Timothy Walton, a 47-year-old man residing on Stretton Road, was sentenced to serve eighteen years in prison after being found guilty of multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl.The conviction followed a five-day trial at Warwick Crown Court, where the jury deliberated for less than two hours before reaching unanimous verdicts on all charges.
Walton faced three counts of raping the young girl and three additional charges of attempting to rape another juvenile.
Throughout the proceedings, Walton maintained his innocence, denying all allegations.
He argued that he had not engaged in any sexual misconduct with the victims.
However, the evidence presented by the prosecution painted a starkly different picture.
Prosecutor Simon Ward emphasized the gravity of the case, questioning whether Walton had committed these acts once or multiple times.
He stated, “The question is did he do these things to these girls, and if he did, did he only do it once, or was it twice or more than that?
The defendant says nothing of the sort happened at all.” It emerged that Walton had established a relationship with the mother of the 11-year-old victim, as she had known a former partner of his and trusted him.
The situation took a disturbing turn after a party when another child made a comment that raised suspicions.
When the mother questioned her daughter, the girl disclosed that Walton had touched her inappropriately.
Following this revelation, the police were contacted.
The young girl provided a detailed account to an officer, describing how Walton had touched her intimately and had shown her a book titled “100 Sex Tricks,” which was later confiscated from Walton’s residence.
Walton’s initial response to his arrest was to deny any sexual contact with the girl and to accuse her of lying.
He maintained this stance through his legal representation during the trial.
As the case progressed, the girl eventually broke down emotionally, initially unable to speak about her experiences.
She later confided in her mother that Walton had sexually assaulted her on approximately six occasions.
The police investigation also uncovered that Walton had attempted to engage in sexual acts with another young girl on multiple occasions, although he was unsuccessful.
During the trial, this second girl also claimed she was lying when questioned via a television link.
Judge Marten Coates delivered the sentence, condemning Walton for his actions.
He stated, “You have been found guilty, on the clearest of evidence in my view, of raping and attempting to rape two girls.
Girls of that age cannot stand up to people like you, and when you say you are going to kill them if they say anything, they believe it.” The judge further explained that Walton could have received a 30 percent reduction in his sentence had he admitted guilt earlier.
Instead, forcing the victims to testify meant they had to relive their traumatic experiences, which caused them significant distress.
The court also ordered Walton to register as a sex offender for life and prohibited him from engaging in any paid or voluntary work involving children, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the need to protect the community of Nuneaton from further harm.
