ISLAND POLICE OFFICER DISMISSED FOR DRUNKENLY GROPING TWO COLLEAGUES
An Isle of Wight police officer has been dismissed for drunkenly groping two of her colleagues on a boozy work night out.Appearing at a misconduct hearing in Eastleigh, PC Tia Johnson-Warne was found guilty of gross misconduct for the 'inappropriate touching' of two officers - only identified as PC A and PC B - and was placed on the College of Policing's Barred List.
She was cleared of groping PC A in a car.
She admitted touching and messaging PC A but claimed it was 'not unwelcome' flirting and denied sexually touching PC B.
The misconduct happened during a night out at Wetherspoons, Ryde.
The hearing revealed that PC Johnson-Warne, described as 'sexually provocative,' made advances to both men while seated in a booth, with her then-boyfriend also present.
She initially grabbed PC A just above his knee, then moved her hand up to his thigh.
The officer stopped the encounter by excusing herself to the bathroom and sitting away from him.
Subsequently, she sent him explicit text messages, including a photo of herself in underwear.
She also rubbed her hand over the crotch of PC B for around 20 seconds during the event.
PC B stated the group was barred from more drinks due to her drunkenness.
Deputy chief constable Sam De Reya criticized her 'unprofessional actions' and 'completely inappropriate behavior.' She expressed regret for her actions, stating her behavior left officers feeling uncomfortable.
Alan Jenkins, representing the force, emphasized that excessive alcohol consumption is no excuse for unwelcome contact.
Officers PC A and PC B described the incident as awkward and sexually inappropriate, with PC B feeling like a victim of sexual misconduct.
The article concludes that PC Johnson-Warne is no longer a serving officer due to her misconduct.
