NOTTINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR STALKING CAMPAIGN INCLUDING DRIVING AT WOMAN AND BREAKING INTO HER HOME
A man has been sentenced after a three-month campaign of harassment against a woman which included driving a car at her and climbing through a window into her home.Thomas McGuigan, 32, pleaded guilty to stalking, two counts of dangerous driving, and threatening to destroy or damage property.
Nottinghamshire Police reports that McGuigan has been jailed for one year following his appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on April 7.
The authorities began their investigation in November 2022 after his victim reported him repeatedly turning up at her residence late at night, making threats, and banging on her door.
He also made further threats on Facebook that he intended to deflate her car tyres.
On August 6, McGuigan gained entry to her home, and when he returned on November 7, he drove his car into her hedge twice.
The victim recounted that later that day, while driving in Clifton, she saw McGuigan crossing the carriageway towards her, leading her to believe he was driving straight at her.
Nottinghamshire Police Constable Sian Gray-Finch praised the victim's bravery and emphasized the force’s commitment to keeping women safe and supporting victims.
Additionally, McGuigan received a five-year restraining order and was banned from driving for 12 months.
