NOTTINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR FOUR YEARS AFTER BRUTAL CAMPAIGN OF ABUSE AGAINST EX-PARTNER
A teenage girl from Nottingham was subjected to horrific violence at the hands of her first ever boyfriend - who struck her with his belt buckle in the campaign of abuse.During the trial at Nottingham Crown Court, it was revealed that Rickey Hollis-Smith strangled the victim to the point she thought he would kill her, and even said his victim was a 'manipulator'.
He punched her in a jealous rage while she slept at his hospital bedside, and struck her with a belt buckle so hard that it left an imprint on her back.
The court was told he inflicted harm on her on eight separate occasions from April 2024 to August 2025.
On May 23, 2025, Hollis-Smith strangled her in his flat and threatened to kill her, and on July 18 last year, he hit her with his belt buckle while she was preparing to leave for work.
He was found guilty of eight counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of intentional strangulation.
Hollis-Smith, of Spondon Street, Sherwood, was sentenced to four years in prison and received an indefinite restraining order.
The judge noted his previous convictions, including a 25-month sentence for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
The victim expressed her ongoing emotional scars and her hope for recovery, with support from Women’s Aid.
His father was present and expressed disappointment, and Hollis-Smith publicly apologized for his actions.
