JAIL FOR MAN WHO RAPED TWO WOMEN IN 15 MONTHS
A man convicted of raping two women within a 15-month period has received a prison sentence.Omran Ahmed, 37, first assaulted a woman at a property in Sneinton on 20 December 2023, during which he repeatedly punched her in the face.
Initially, Ahmed denied any sexual contact with his victim during his police interview.
Several months later, when DNA evidence proved otherwise, he altered his account, claiming he had been asleep and had no memory of the incident.
While on bail at the Crown Court awaiting trial for his initial offence, Ahmed committed another rape at a different address in Forest Fields on 20 March 2025, after meeting the woman through a mutual acquaintance.
During his third police interview, Ahmed continued to deny the charges, even in the face of evidence from the first offence.
He was remanded into custody immediately.
Throughout the proceedings, he maintained his innocence until September 2025, when a jury at Nottingham Crown Court found him guilty of both rapes.
The court also convicted him of causing actual bodily harm to his first victim.
On Friday, Ahmed, of Ilkeston Road in Nottingham, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his crimes.
