WOMAN LEFT WITH 'DISGUSTING' INJURIES AFTER PARTNER OF 20 YEARS ATTACKS
A woman was left with 'disgusting' injuries after being beaten by her partner of 20 years, Thomas Cummins.The court heard that the 42-year-old attacked his partner during a drunken incident, which escalated as he continued to assault her upstairs three times.
The woman sustained swelling to one side of her face and was knocked out.
Cummins, who already had 40 offences on his criminal record—including an attack on this same woman—pleaded guilty.
Nottingham Crown Court Judge Timothy Spencer QC described the injuries as 'shocking' and noted that photographs of her injuries confirmed their severity.
Cummins admitted that alcohol played a part in his offending behaviour and received a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, along with an 18-month probation order to help him handle relationships.
He has been in custody since the attack on March 31 and has a job starting soon.
The couple has now split up.
Prosecutor Edna Leonard stated that their relationship lasted 20 years, and the incident began after they went out drinking and continued arguing at home.
