In a case that has shocked the Mansfield community, Tanya Grundy, a 35-year-old woman from Chesterfield Road North, Pleasley, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 22 years after being convicted of multiple heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of two young boys. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse that spanned several years, beginning when one of the victims was just four years old.
According to the evidence presented at Nottingham Crown Court, Grundy was accused of committing a total of 26 separate offences related to her abuse of the children.
These charges included 12 counts of gross indecency with a child, eight counts of causing a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, four counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
The severity and number of charges underscored the gravity of her actions and the impact on the victims.

The offences took place over a period stretching from the late 1990s into the mid-2000s, highlighting a prolonged period of abuse that has left a lasting scar on the victims and their families.
In addition to her prison sentence, Grundy was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life, a measure aimed at monitoring her activities and preventing further harm.
She was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes restrictions on her behavior and contact with minors, reflecting the court’s determination to protect the community from any potential future offenses.
