RAPIST JAILED AFTER ABUSING TWO TEENAGE GIRLS
A man convicted of sexually abusing two teenage girls after grooming and befriending them has been sentenced to prison.Peter Whetstone targeted the victims during the spring and summer of 2020, having met them at a skate park in Mansfield.
He engaged in persistent messaging, convinced them to send intimate images and videos, and ultimately assaulted both girls sexually.
At the time of the offenses, Whetstone was 23 years old.
He raped one of the victims on 5 September 2020 at his residence in Mansfield.
Authorities were alerted after a social media post, prompting an investigation.
During the inquiry, the victims received interviews and support from specialist officers.
Both victims had vulnerabilities that Whetstone exploited.
They later reported in statements that Whetstone, who was part of an older peer group and a skilled skater seeking to impress them, was responsible for the abuse.
They also revealed that the trauma from the incidents continues to affect their lives years later, feeling that their teenage years had been stolen.
After his arrest, Whetstone refused to comment during police questioning.
The 29-year-old, residing in Mansfield, eventually admitted guilt nearly five years after the offenses, pleading guilty to inciting sexual activity, engaging in sexual communications with a minor, meeting a child following grooming, and committing sexual activity with a child.
He denied charges of rape and sexual assault but was convicted of these at a trial in September 2025.
On Tuesday (10 March), at Nottingham Crown Court, he was sentenced to a prison term of 10 years.
He was also ordered to comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely and will be on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.
