PERVERT'S SICK HAUL INCLUDED MORE THAN 1,100 PHOTOS OF YOUNG GIRL SHOWERING
A 65-year-old former prison worker secretly amassed more than 1,000 naked photos of a teenage victim showering.Nottingham Crown Court heard how Anthony O’Leary also bragged online about how turned on he felt about the images to what he thought was a like-minded sexual deviant.
The defendant had also been getting sexual pleasure from viewing horrific child abuse images on the internet for more than a decade.
Like many who are caught by the police he later claimed he had no sexual interest in children at all.
In a victim impact statement, the female in the 1,000-plus nude pictures he was found with bravely said: “My life may have been altered but I will not have my dignity deprived by someone’s actions.” Handing O’Leary an 18-month sentence, suspended for two years, Judge Stuart Rafferty KC said: “I have read your presentence report in which you protest not having a sexual interest (in children).
That is simply a fairytale.
There were 55 (category A) who were being savagely raped and sexually assaulted, 95 (category B) children who had you drooling over them and 133 (category C) children no doubt scantily-clad.
Then there was the (main victim) of whom you had 1,150 photos.
If that is not an obsession with young children I don’t know what is.
The real fact here is that you only feel sorry for yourself because you got caught otherwise this would have gone on and on.
You were fantasising about this while talking to a man (online) who you thought was a fellow traveller down the same dark road, thinking about young children.
Those children’s lives have been absolutely destroyed and you pretend they are not real because they are on a screen, all because you could have your cheap thrills.
Nothing could be further from the truth.” Gareth Gimson, prosecuting, said a decoy posing as a fellow sexual deviant began talking to O’Leary on a nudist messaging website and very quickly the defendant began sharing his fantasies about young children.
He said he shared with him one of the images of the main victim and told how he gets sexual pleasure from young girls.
The barrister said that led to his arrest and the discovery of the other indecent images which he had been viewing since 2013.
In the impact statement, the victim said: "Hopefully one day I will be able to trust people again." O’Leary, formerly of Collier Avenue, Mansfield Woodhouse, pleaded guilty to charges including possession of indecent images of children, possession of extreme pornography and possession of prohibited images of children.
He has no previous convictions.
Matt Hayes, mitigating, said: "Because of this he has lost everything.
He has no contact with anyone now except his sister." As part of the suspended sentence, the judge ordered the defendant to attend 35 rehabilitation sessions, placed him on the sex offender register for 10 years and handed him a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
