OBSESSED NOTTINGHAM STALKER HANDED SUSPENDED PRISON SENTENCE AFTER THREATS
An obsessive stalker from Nottingham told a woman that he was 'going to burn your house down with you in it'.
Tanveer Amin, of Holgate the Meadows, made a series of threats to the victim, whom he had met online last year.
His messages grew increasingly aggressive, including over 40 threatening voicemails before his arrest on January 12.
Despite a ban on contacting her, he continued to call from different numbers until re-arrested on April 10.
Amin pleaded guilty to stalking involving fear of violence and was sentenced to a year and four months in prison, suspended for two years.
He was also made subject to a restraining order.
Police Constable Sharoon Ali of Nottinghamshire Police stated: "Amin subjected his victim to months of sustained harassment and abuse, which has sadly left a lasting mark on her psychologically.
Despite never meeting her in person, Amin became dangerously obsessed, prompting her to block his number multiple times.
I’d like to commend her for her bravery in reporting this so we could stop him."
