VILE STOCKTON RAPIST JAILED FOR OVER TWO DECADES FOR HORRIFIC ABUSE OF CHILD
A vile rapist has been jailed for over two decades for horrific sexual abuse against a child.Stuart Cox, of Stockton, was found guilty of 14 charges of depraved sexual offences by a jury in September.
Appearing in court via video link from HMP Holme House, the 63-year-old showed no emotion as he was jailed for 21 years and will serve an additional year on extended licence.
The cruel abuser showed no emotion during the hearing and continues to deny his horrifying crimes.
In a heartbreaking personal statement, read out by prosecutor Paul Cleasby, the victim said: "Since the time of these crimes I have been isolated, keeping myself to myself.
I didn't want to talk, I didn't want to open up.
Throughout the years it has been a really long battle for justice and an ongoing struggle." "It's been hard, I have gone to counselling to help ease my mind, thoughts and feelings, to help silence the pain and awful memories of what I went through.
The truth is I will never forget it.
What happened to me will stick to me like glue." "I will never get to know why and that weighs heavy on my mind.
I feel broken," the victim added.
"I'm just shattered and I have never fully picked up all the pieces." The court heard Cox used pharmaceuticals on himself in order to carry out at least some of the offences.
Andrew Turton, mitigating, said Cox had not been in trouble with the court for offences of this nature previously.
He was last before the courts in 1990.
Sentencing Cox, Judge Timothy Stead said: "I fear that [they] will bear the marks and anguish of this offending for the rest of [their] life.
I hope it is not so.
It seems to be, in all the circumstances, it has a near inevitability that it will be so." Cox, of Sandport Walk, Stockton, was jailed for 21 years and will serve one year on extended licence.
He's also been made subject to an indefinite restraining order, sexual harm prevention order and notification requirements order.
