STEVEN MCATEAR – RENFREWSHIRE MAN ARRESTED AFTER CHILD PROTECTION STING
A man from Renfrewshire, identified as Steven McAtear, has been arrested on 17 September 2025 after allegedly engaging in sexually explicit communication with a child.
The case has been referred to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) for prosecution, and witnesses have been notified by letter from the Paisley division of Scotland’s prosecution service.
The arrest followed an online child protection operation in which McAtear was confronted over his alleged actions.
The incident was handled with the support of the Spartan team, who attended on behalf of the wider child safety network.
The investigation remains ongoing while the Procurator Fiscal considers formal charges.
