TRANENT MAN ORDERED TO ATTEND ALCOHOL SESSIONS AFTER DOMESTIC ABUSE
A TRANENT man has been ordered to attend alcohol treatment sessions after he admitted domestic abuse.Steven Love was placed on a community payback order with a conduct requirement that he attend the treatment when required to do so by his supervising officer.
Love, 41, was also told he must take part in a refresher course with the domestic abuse organisation Caledonian Men’s Programme after he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner at his home earlier this year.
Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that Love had shouted, banged and kicked a door, and then attempted to enter the property on the town’s Scott Glynn Walk on June 6.
The court heard that the offence was aggravated by abuse of his partner and was prosecuted under Section 1 of the Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm (Scotland) Act 2016.
Sheriff Adrian Fraser was told that Love was pleading guilty to the charge and sentenced him to the community order with a supervision element of 12 months.
The sheriff also ordered Love to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to a custodial sentence, as well as issuing the conduct requirement.
Sheriff Fraser said that he was not imposing a non-harassment order after being told that the couple were still in a relationship.
