A man from Tranent has been held in custody ahead of his sentencing hearing after making threats towards his former partner and violating a court order.
Lee Rutherford was at his residence with the woman when he became aggressive around 7:30 pm on September 25 of the previous year.
During the confrontation, Rutherford accused the woman of infidelity and shouted that she was “f***ing getting it”.
According to Edinburgh Sheriff Court, police were called to the scene, and upon his arrest, officers found that he was breaching bail restrictions that barred him from contacting the woman.
Last Thursday, Rutherford, aged 34, appeared before the court via custody, where he admitted to threatening or abusive behavior and breaching bail conditions.
His defense lawyer stated that the woman had voluntarily gone to Rutherford’s residence on Lindores Drive, and that both individuals had consumed alcohol during the dispute.
The lawyer emphasized that Rutherford acknowledged his conduct was “unacceptable,” was taking “full responsibility,” and was working to address his behaviour.
Sheriff Graeme Watson postponed sentencing to allow for a social work report to be completed and remanded Rutherford into custody until then.
