TRANENT MAN FOUND GUILTY OF ABUSIVE BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS WOMAN
A MAN has been found guilty of behaving in an abusive manner towards his former partner over a five-year period.Andrew Munro, of Muirside Drive, Tranent, engaged in the course of abusive behaviour towards the woman at an address in Prestonpans between April 1, 2019, and December 7 last year.
Munro repeatedly shouted and made offensive remarks towards the woman and repeatedly accused her of sleeping with other men during their relationship.
He also repeatedly made phone calls to her and contacted her mother in an attempt to communicate with her when she did not want to speak to him.
A trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard that on one occasion, 34-year-old Munro butted the woman to the head with his head and he had also sent electronic messages containing offensive remarks in order to contact her.
Munro denied all the allegations against him but was found guilty of a heavily amended complaint prosecuted under Section 1 of the Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm (Scotland) Act 2016 following the trial last week.
He was cleared of an allegation of assaulting the woman’s mother by slamming a door, causing it to strike the woman, between November 23 and December 20, 2015.
Sentence was deferred to January 28 for reports to be prepared.
