WHITLEY BAY MAN JAILED FOR HORRIFIC FACE-BITING AND ARM-BREAKING ATTACK
A man described as 'dangerous' who assaulted his former girlfriend by breaking her arm and biting her face has received a 10-year prison sentence.Northumbria Police reported that Steven Burton, aged 33 from Whitley Bay, committed the attack at 22:00 BST on 30 August at the victim's residence in Sunderland.
During the assault, Burton repeatedly punched, kicked, and bit her, resulting in 'horrific injuries.' The victim suffered severe physical harm and was found distressed and visibly injured when officers arrived.
Burton was arrested later that night in Whitley Bay.
He admitted to causing grievous bodily harm and was sentenced to 10 years in prison at Newcastle Crown Court, with an additional four years to serve on licence.
The victim expressed her devastation and stated she did not want Burton near her again.
Detective Constable Sara Stewart emphasized the severity of Burton's actions, describing him as 'a dangerous man' and highlighting the importance of police intervention in preventing future abuse.
The case underscores the importance of victims calling police in abusive situations.
