SUNDERLAND MAN JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AFTER PARTNER REPORT
A 22-year-old man, identified as Luke Tyson, who collected numerous images depicting children being sexually abused—some of which included babies—was sentenced after his partner, concerned about his behavior, reported him to the authorities.Over several years, Tyson accumulated hundreds of illicit images, Newcastle Crown Court was told.
Judge Gavin Doig remarked that it was a "tragedy" to see someone so young involved in such crimes.
Residing in Sunderland, Tyson pleaded guilty to various charges, including creating indecent images of children and violating sexual risk orders, resulting in a prison sentence of three years and four months.
His partner at the time alerted the police after discovering some of his photographs and troubling conversations he had on his phone, prosecutor Emily Sanderson explained.
Authorities found on his devices a total of 192 indecent images, with 51 classified as the most serious type, and also a banned image showing a man engaging in sex with a pig.
Tyson had previously been subjected to a sexual risk order following a conviction for making indecent images as a teenager and had received a suspended sentence for additional offenses.
During a routine check with his risk assessment officer, it was uncovered that he possessed a phone and online storage account that had not been registered with the police, violating court restrictions.
An additional 246 indecent video recordings of children, including 127 in the most severe category, were recovered.
The victims ranged from infants to children aged 12, with some videos depicting acts of rape.
Judge Doig expressed disappointment that Tyson’s involvement in such crimes was so early in life but hoped that he might eventually change his conduct.
