STEPHEN WILLARD CWMBRAN PAEDOPHILE FACES JAIL OVER INDECENT IMAGES AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY
In August 2020, Stephen Willard, a 50-year-old resident of Oxtens, Coed Eva, Cwmbran, found himself at the center of a serious legal case involving allegations of possessing and creating indecent images of children, as well as extreme animal pornography.The charges against Willard included two counts of making indecent photographs of a child, one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child, and an additional count of possessing extreme animal pornography.
These allegations painted a disturbing picture of the defendant's activities, prompting immediate concern from law enforcement authorities and the court system.
Willard's case was scheduled to be heard at Cardiff Crown Court, where he was expected to face sentencing.
However, the proceedings were temporarily halted when the case was adjourned at the request of his legal representative, Barrister Ben Waters.
The judge presiding over the case, Recorder Caroline Rees QC, decided to postpone the sentencing hearing until September 4 to allow for a comprehensive report on Willard's background and circumstances.
During this period, Willard was granted bail, allowing him to remain free pending the final judgment.
It was also revealed during the court proceedings that Willard had already registered as a sex offender, a measure that underscores the severity of the allegations and the potential consequences he faces.
The prosecution, led by Paul Hewitt, emphasized the gravity of the offences and the need for appropriate sentencing to reflect the seriousness of the crimes committed.
In September 2020, Willard was ultimately sentenced to a two-year community order.
As part of his sentence, he was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order that restricted his access to the internet, a critical step aimed at preventing further offenses.
Additionally, he was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work, attend a 30-day rehabilitation program, and notify authorities of his status as a sex offender for a period of five years.
The court also ordered the destruction of all devices seized from his home, which were believed to contain evidence related to his offences.
Furthermore, Willard was required to pay costs amounting to £420, covering legal and court expenses associated with his case.
