GALERI CAERNARFON BOSS SENTENCED AFTER ADMITTING HE STALKED WOMAN
The leader of a prominent venue in North Wales has been put on suspension after publicly admitting to stalking behavior.Steffan Thomas, who serves as the chief executive of Galeri Caernarfon Cyf, appeared before magistrates on Monday to be sentenced regarding his conduct.
The organisation has stated that Thomas has been suspended while they carry out their own review of the case.
The 42-year-old Thomas appeared in Caernarfon Magistrates Court where he was convicted of pursuing a pattern of behaviour that constituted stalking of a woman in Bangor, between July 27 and September 16 of the previous year.
His actions included sending unwanted messages, giving gifts he knew she wouldn’t want, and visiting places she frequented.
The court issued a fine and a 12-month community order which requires him to complete 120 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, Thomas received a two-year restraining order preventing him from making contact with the victim until April 2026.
He was also ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a surcharge of £114.
In response, Galeri Caernarfon Cyf’s directors issued a statement indicating that Thomas has been suspended from his role.
The statement read: "Mr Steffan Thomas, Chief Executive of Galeri Caernarfon Cyf, was sentenced to a fine of £200, and 120 hours’ community service at Caernarfon Magistrates Court following a guilty plea to a charge of stalking.
Following the hearing on the 8th April the board of Galeri Caernarfon Cyf will conduct an investigation into the conviction and surrounding facts, and Mr Thomas has been suspended on full pay and without prejudice pending the outcome of the investigation." The board further commented: "The board of Galeri will make no further comment on the matter until its investigation has been concluded.
This situation will not affect Galeri’s operations, nor events and activities at the Galeri centre, which will continue as normal."
