LEICESTER MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK ON EX-PARTNER
A man found guilty of attacking his former partner has been sentenced to a total of five years and four months behind bars.Simon Toussaint broke into her home twice prior to the assault, during which he punched, kicked, and forcibly dragged her by her hair across a room.
The 31-year-old, who lives on Robin Close in Leicester, admitted to a total of eight offenses, including causing actual bodily harm, engaging in coercive or controlling behavior, intimidating witnesses, and breaching court orders.
The sentencing occurred at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Leicestershire Police confirmed that the assaults happened in Queniborough in the months of April and May.
Following the attacks, Toussaint made more than 400 phone calls to the woman within a week, leaving threatening voicemail messages.
He will also be subject to a five-year restraining order upon his release.
PC Lorraine Hendrie from the local domestic abuse team commended the victim’s strength and bravery throughout the investigation, and expressed hope that this case would motivate other victims to seek assistance and prevent further abuse.
