A MAN, WHO WAS WORKING AS A NURSE AT A LEICESTER HOSPITAL, HAS BEEN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT
The judge at Leicester Crown Court sentenced Telmo Ribeiro today, following his conviction for multiple offences in October after an extensive police inquiry and trial. The crimes took place at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, where Ribeiro was employed on the neurology ward.
The allegations involved a female patient in the hospital at the time.
During the court proceedings, Ribeiro admitted to three charges of computer misuse and one data protection offence, after authorities found images of medical records on his mobile phone upon his arrest.
Although Ribeiro denied involvement in the sexual offences initially, a jury found him guilty in October of two counts of sexual assault, which involved unwanted sexual contact with the same female patient on two separate occasions during 2020.
His arrest occurred in 2020, and investigations revealed images stored on his device some showing medical records on screens, others photographs of paper documents.
Following a lengthy and detailed investigation, during which cooperation was maintained with the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, Ribeiro, 38, of Watkin Road, Leicester, was charged in May 2022.
Today, Friday 5 December, Ribeiro received a custodial sentence of two years.
Additionally, he was imposed with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and will be on the Sex Offenders Register for the same period.
