FORMER BBC RADIO STAR’S SEX TRIAL HALTED OVER HEALTH FEARS
A disgraced former BBC Radio Leicester presenter accused of dozens of historic sex crimes has seen his long-awaited trial put on hold after serious concerns were raised about his health.Brian Shuttlewood, 79, has denied every allegation against him and entered not guilty pleas across the board.
The veteran broadcaster appeared before Leicester Crown Court earlier this month, where his trial was due to begin.
However, proceedings were abruptly adjourned after the court was told he may not be medically fit to stand trial.
Shuttlewood faces more than 30 charges linked to alleged sexual offences said to have taken place over nearly 20 years, involving both children and adults.
He also denies a separate allegation of possessing extreme pornographic images, said to date back to March 2023.
The judge has now pushed the case back to mid-February, when the court will receive an update on the former presenter’s condition and whether the case can proceed.
Shuttlewood has been released on bail under strict conditions.
As things stand, no new trial date has been set.
