WOMAN LEFT FEARFUL AFTER STALKER LORRY DRIVER GETS SUSPENDED PRISON SENTENCE
A woman was left feeling "fearful" and lost weight after a man stalked her.Simon Hutchinson, a lorry driver, pleaded guilty to stalking her and perverting the course of justice after he tried to get her to drop the charges.
Judge Julie Warburton sentenced him, stating Hutchinson had followed her in his car and left flowers on her windscreen on multiple occasions.
She told Hutchinson in court, "this was a series of acts," and described how his actions left her "feeling like a different person; constantly fearful and anxious.
On one occasion she ended up in hospital as a result of your behaviour." Prosecutor Eddy Leonard said the woman "feels at the end of her tether" and was "left feeling fearful" and lost weight.
Hutchinson, 51, of Birch Road, Newark, is already subject to a stalking prevention order.
He is of good character and has been a long-distance lorry driver for 20 years.
His lawyer explained he was detained from Thursday to Monday and was unaware he was receiving bail until a bail application was made.
The judge imposed a restraining order until further notice, as well as a six-month prison sentence for perverting the course of justice and a four-month sentence for stalking, both suspended for 18 months.
Hutchinson is also required to complete 15 rehabilitation activity days and 200 hours of unpaid work.
