FORMER POLICE OFFICER SIJANTA THAPA WOULD HAVE BEEN DISMISSED AFTER NIGHTCLUB ASSAULT
Ex-Metropolitan Police officer Sijanta Thapa sexually assaulted a woman at a Westminster nightclub in January 2024.Former Metropolitan Police officer Sijanta Thapa resigned before facing a misconduct hearing into allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman in a London nightclub.
The misconduct panel, sitting on 27–28 August 2025, heard that on 16 January 2024 Thapa was at Heaven Nightclub in Westminster when he pulled a female tourist onto his lap and touched her breasts without consent.
CCTV footage captured the incident, after which the victim immediately moved away and reported it to staff.
Thapa was arrested and later interviewed, admitting to touching the woman but claiming it had been consensual.
The panel rejected his account, finding it to be untrue.
It concluded that his actions breached the standards of Discreditable Conduct and Authority, Respect and Courtesy.
The hearing determined his conduct amounted to gross misconduct.
The chair, Saghir Akbar, ruled: “By sexually assaulting a female in a nightclub and lying to cover up his wrongdoing, FPC Thapa had clearly acted in a manner that discredits the police service and undermines public confidence.” Although Thapa had resigned prior to the hearing, the outcome stated he would have been dismissed without notice had he still been serving.
He will also be placed on the College of Policing’s barred list.
