SCOTT RUDGE OF LINCOLN SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AND INDECENT IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the community near Lincoln, Scott Derek Rudge, aged 29, has been sentenced to five years in prison after admitting to serious sexual misconduct involving a young boy.The proceedings took place at Lincoln Crown Court, where it was revealed that Rudge, a former child photographer, had engaged in disturbing activities over a span of nearly a decade.
Police investigations were triggered in May of this year when authorities executed a search at a residence in a village close to Lincoln.
During the search, officers uncovered evidence that linked Rudge to the possession and distribution of a vast collection of indecent images of children.
Analysis of his computer equipment confirmed that Rudge had downloaded almost 50,000 such images, including 877 classified in the most severe category of abuse.
Some of these images depicted children as young as two and three years old, highlighting the disturbing nature of his activities.
When confronted by law enforcement, Rudge admitted to the acts but denied being a paedophile.
Despite his denial, the evidence presented in court painted a different picture.
The forensic examination of his digital devices revealed the extent of his illegal activities, which included not only the possession of indecent images but also the creation of illicit videos.
Further investigation uncovered that Rudge had secretly recorded himself touching a young boy, with footage showing him fondling the child's chest, nipples, and other private areas.
The impact of Rudge’s actions on the young victim was vividly conveyed through a victim impact statement read in court.
The boy described feeling “angry, anxious and worthless” as a result of the abuse, underscoring the profound and lasting harm inflicted.
Rudge, who was identified as having no fixed address at the time of sentencing, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual touching of a child and the making of indecent images.
The offences spanned a period of nine years, indicating a long history of disturbing behavior.
During sentencing, Judge John Pini QC made it clear that he believed Rudge was indeed a paedophile, stating, “I do not accept that you are not a paedophile.
On this evidence, you clearly are.” The court also ordered Rudge to register as a sex offender for life and imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order to restrict his future activities and protect the public from further harm.
