CAT KILLER SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR NETFLIX-INSPIRED MURDER
A woman named Scarlet Blake, aged 26, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous crimes. She was found guilty of murder after leading Jorge Martin Carreno to his death by pushing him into the River Cherwell in Oxford in July 2021.
The court heard that Blake had previously pleaded guilty to criminal damage related to a cat she had harmed.
The judge indicated that a Netflix documentary about killing cats "played a part" in Blake's planning.
Her actions included hitting Carreno over the head with a vodka bottle, attempting to strangle him, and ultimately pushing him into the river where he drowned.
Blake had been on the streets actively seeking victims, driven by a disturbing interest in death and harm, which went beyond simple fantasy.
She also had an online relationship with another transgender woman in the US, Ashlynn Bell, and claimed she killed a cat to please her, though she later expressed regret.
The court presented evidence of Blake dissecting and blending the cat, showing grotesque pleasure, alongside footage from police body-worn cameras where she was filmed making unsettling comments.
Court testimony detailed her behaviour, including returning to the scene to take photographs and trying to garner admiration for her acts of harm and death.
Sentencing included life imprisonment with a minimum term of 24 years, for her murder, while she received additional sentences of four months for animal cruelty and two months for criminal damage, to run concurrently.
The family of her victim, Jorge Carreno, expressed deep grief and outrage over Blake's lack of remorse, describing him as a kind and joyful person.
The judge said Blake’s actions were motivated by a sexual desire linked to her fascination with harm and death, with the court noting her clear sexual motivation for killing the cat and the murder itself.
