LIVERPOOL PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS FOR LONG-RUNNING ABUSE
A man named Samuel Longton, aged 56, from Grafton Street, Toxteth, was convicted of raping and sexually abusing a woman over a period of years. The court heard that Longton raped his victim when she was 15 and 17, and subjected her to repeated molestation beginning from the age of seven.
During the sentencing hearing, the judge, Neil Flewitt, QC, ordered Longton to keep his eyes on him and away from his victim while he was being sentenced to 16 years in prison.
The court was shown a photograph of Longton staring at his victim across the courtroom.
It was revealed that Longton threatened to punch her, dragged her by her hair, and blackmailed her to continue his abuse, which caused her severe psychological harm.
Despite claims from Longton that he did not have sex with her, DNA evidence proved he was lying, and he later claimed the sex was consensual when she was 17.
The judge condemned his behavior as callous, indicating he showed no remorse and only cared for himself.
The jury found Longton guilty on four counts of rape and 10 counts of sexual assault.
The victim testified that she knew his actions were wrong but felt controlled and manipulated.
She has suffered from mental health issues, including eating disorders, self-harm, and paranoia.
Longton has prior convictions dating back to the 1970s, including dishonesty and drug-related offenses.
The court imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, restraining orders, and ordered him to register as a sex offender for life.
