TEARFUL MUM TELLS ABUSIVE EX 'THANK YOU' AFTER HE THREATENED TO SHOOT HER FAMILY
A mother tearfully expressed her gratitude to her abusive ex-partner, saying "thank you," after he menaced her family with threats of shooting and rape.Joseph McClean-Evans subjected the mother of his children to a series of "truly disgusting and unacceptable" acts of violence and abuse.
Fearing he would "one day find and kill her," she even contemplated fleeing the city, but she stated that his horrific conduct "showed her what she needed to do to ensure her children will grow up with their mum." In addition to these incidents, he had visited a pub in his slippers and attacked a man with a knife.
McClean-Evans did not attend his court hearing, even as his own prediction that he "was going to go to jail" came true.
At Liverpool Crown Court, it was revealed that on February 28 of the previous year, McClean-Evans went to the Queens Arms pub on Admiral Street in Toxteth shortly before 8:30 pm.
CCTV footage showed him dressed in a white shirt, black tie, flat cap, and slippers before being directed into a side room by John Cassell.
Following a heated confrontation, McClean-Evans produced a knife from his pocket and assaulted Cassell with the weapon.
Police arrived to find him with a deep cut to his left ear, but he refused medical aid and did not want to file a police report.
He was detained while trying to leave in a taxi, appearing intoxicated, with bloodstains on his clothes and wearing only one slipper.
He claimed he acted in self-defense and was released for further investigation.
Later, he visited his ex-partner's home, where he was asked to leave after a disagreement.
Subsequently, he made a series of threatening phone calls, warning he would "come to see her and the children for the last time," and threatening to obtain a gun, shoot her family, and assault a relative.
He also punched her in the head and told her he was "going to ruin her life," making additional threats such as setting fire to her mother’s house.
His ex described how his eyes turned completely black during the incident, revealing how terrifying his transformation was and indicating the danger he posed.
His former partner now feels she cannot trust anyone and is considering leaving Merseyside due to fears that he might end up killing her.
A supporter in court praised her by saying "well done girl" as she left the proceedings.
McClean-Evans has a criminal history, with 15 convictions across 33 offenses—including wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.
In 2018, he served two years in prison for assaulting his ex-girlfriend’s mother and brother with a metal cosh and kicking her front door.
He pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding, possessing a bladed weapon, and harassment.
McClean-Evans failed to attend his sentencing hearing, where he was sentenced to four years in prison and prohibited from contacting his former partner for ten years through a restraining order.
