TAXI DRIVER KHALDON MOHAMMED JAILED FOR RAPE IN LIVERPOOL
A taxi driver working for Delta has been found guilty of rape after forcing a male passenger to perform a sexual act while he was driving.Khaldon Mohammed, who is married and has two children, received a six-and-a-half-year prison term following a three-day trial at Liverpool Crown Court.
The court was told that the incident took place in 2015 when the victim, who was intoxicated but conscious of his actions, entered Mohammed's taxi in Aigburth after a night out.
Prosecutor Arthur Gibson explained that the victim immediately called a friend, crying and distressed, to say, “I’ve been raped.” Mohammed asserted that the passenger had initiated the sexual act and that he had gone along with it “out of curiosity.” Later, he changed his account, admitting that a consensual sexual act had occurred but claiming he was too embarrassed to admit it earlier for fear of jeopardizing his family.
The victim’s friend promptly contacted police, and officers found the distressed man crying and retching upon arrival.
The trial also revealed that Mohammed felt curious and shocked about what transpired, denying any coercion or forced action.
The jury deliberated for five hours before rejecting Mohammed’s claims, and the judge, Clement Goldstone, QC, sentenced him immediately after the verdict based on the evidence presented.
