MAN SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS AND FOUR MONTHS IN PRISON FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT
Samuel Gebru, aged 22 and living in Toxteth, admitted to committing a sexual assault and a common assault on two different women in Aigburth during the same night in July.The sentencing took place at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, December 8.
The first incident occurred around 10:35 pm on Monday, July 28, when a woman in her twenties was walking along Aigburth Road and noticed Gebru following her.
He continued walking up Lark Lane towards the junction with Sefton Grove, prompting the woman to confront him.
During their interaction, Gebru grabbed her arm, and after a brief altercation during which two individuals emerged from the Albert pub Gebru walked away.
The event was reported online two days later, on July 30.
The second incident happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 29, when another woman in her twenties was sexually assaulted off Aigburth Road by Gebru, who had been following her.
After attacking her in the street, Gebru fled on foot as residents were alerted.
He was subsequently arrested early on Wednesday, July 30.
At the time of the second offence, Gebru was already in police custody due to his involvement in the first.
Following a detailed investigation that included CCTV footage, doorbell recordings, and forensic analysis, Gebru was charged with both crimes and remanded in custody.
